Calling all students, staff, and anyone else with an interest in sustainability and business: it’s finally time.

After weeks of preparation, Sustainability in Business is proud to present an entire week of incredible events! From panels to pitches, and loads of fun in-between, SIB will be hosting five fantastic chance for you to get involved and learn more about sustainable business. And it’s all happening March 4th to the 8th, so make sure you know what’s happening when, because you won’t want to miss this.

The week kicks off with the Sustainability Carnival on Monday, March 4th in Lazaridis Hall. Complemented by free food and plenty of games, this is a must-attend for anyone looking to learn more about our club, our partners, or just to have some mid-day fun! Stop by in-between classes or make that journey to Laz for a guaranteed great time.

Following the carnival will be our Flagship “Public vs. Private” Panel on Tuesday March 5th. A series of prolific representatives from various organizations will be addressing issues regarding sustainability in business. Going with the theme of “public versus private,” speakers will discuss their various methods and concerns regarding their organization’s responsibility, as well as the concept of sustainable business in general. Get your tickets here.

“Waste-Free Wednesday” follows the panel event on March 6th, with a full day dedicated to encouraging students to reduce their personal waste. SIB will have a booth in the Lazaridis atrium with free coffee for any students who bring a reusable mug! We will also be open for discussion about reducing waste and how you can improve your habits. Before you leave, you can check out our photo booth to get your own #WasteFreeWednesday photo!

The fun continues Thursday March 7th with SIB’s Facility Tour. Students will be taken to The Cora Group’s Waterloo office and will have the chance to tour the evolv1 building- the first Canadian project to ever receive a Zero Carbon Building Design award from the Canadian Green Building Council. Stick around after for a casual networking social at Seven Shores Community Café, where ethically-sourced food will be available for all!

The week concludes with a “soft launch” of SIB Projects, our new initiative encouraging students to solve real-world sustainability issues with their innovative ideas. The SIB Projects: Pitch Competition will be held Friday March 8th and is open to all students willing to share their ideas regarding a real issue. The winner will be given the chance to see their idea become a reality with the help of SIB and its resources, so if you have a passion for sustainable business, this is your chance! Register here.
